I have 29 piercings altogether. I received each and every one of them because I thought they were beautiful and just couldn’t see myself going through life without them. Among these are a pair of cheek piercings, snakebites, bridge, 2 nape piercings, stretched earlobes, various ear piercings and a few others.
I happen to have my tongue and 2 VCH piercings that do absolutely nothing for my intimate life aside from being visually appealing. Everything you hear about tongue rings being sooo awesome must be comming from recipients who aren’t used to partners with any sort of skill. If the best thing you can say about someone’s technique is that they have their tongue pierced, something’s lacking.
I got my nipples pierced because I didn’t like their shape as they were and knew that piercing them would change them. I got exactly what I wanted and increased sensitivity as an unexpected bonus. They now look just like I had always dreamed. I do not plan on taking these piercings out at any point in life. I even wear plastic barbells, so there will be no removing them at the hospital should I be in an accident (plus I find them more comfy).
The most unexpected benefit of my piercings has been forced on me by the general public. As a person I was shy in public and unsure about dealing with strangers (ok I was terrified). Since many of my piercings are highly visable and a few are unusual I get comments about them on a daily basis. I rarely leave the house and manage to get home without having to talk to a stranger about my modifications.
After living with my piercings for 7 years, I’ve had to develop social skills. I’ve learned to smile, answer questions, politely defend my values, etc. These are things that every adult could stand to learn. With daily practice I have reached a point where I am comfortable in my own skin walking down the street. As long as I know my hair looks good and there isn’t anything in my teeth I can charm, schmooze, and handle unexpected attention with some kind of grace. Without my piercings, I doubt I’d have evolved this far since my natural state is “snarky, introspective troll.”
Visual appeal and hard won confidence all in one package. Who could pass that up?
i got my nose pierced because i have a kind’ve big roundish nose. like a lot of black people and filipino people have a nose like mine. i got teased about it a lot. so i just felt rebellious, and i said screw everyone. i like my nose and i like that it represents my heritage and i just wanted to represent and show that im proud of how i look and my features and what makes me unique. so i pierced it and i loved it. people actually started complimenting me on my piercing and stopped raggin on my pug nose
I simply just love the feel and look of piercings, the contrast of metal in skin. I also like the feel of getting them done.
As of right now, I have 3 in my left ear, 2 in my right, 1 nose, 1 monroe, 1 navel, and 1 vertical hood.
There are really no benefits, since they are all healed, I don’t even notice they are there.
navel because I was 17 and my parents wouldn’t let me get my tongue
ears because I was bored
industrial because I like the look
nipples because I wanted the pain
Whats a targus?
Sucky part though is within a year 3 of my friends went and got their lips pierced *eye roll*.
I have my lip and tounge done. With 3 in my ears.
My lip I got done when I was 15. Thought it’d look neat. And alot of people then didn’t have lip piercings so it added some orginality.
I got my tounge done for the simple fact of the jewerly. There is so many different tounge rings you can buy. Different designs, pictures, words. I always saw them in the mall when I’d go looking for lip rings/studs and finally was like “Look at all the cool tounge rings, I’m gunna get my tounge done!”.
I think alot of people get piercings done for the “style” of it. Same reason as why you’d wear a bracelet, neckless or ring.
helps with pain management . love to get peirced, have 7 in L ear, 5 in R ear nipps done nose and bellybutton as well as Mr happy .. yas im a guy . the wife only has 5 done.
Personally, I’m addicted to getting piercings!
I have my tongue pierced
belly pierced
nose pierced
five piercings on one ear and
three on the other.
LOVE them all
I’m planning to get my nipples done soon. Piercings are just a personal preference.
I got my tongue pierced as a gift for my boyfriend ;D
lol wow. ive got 7 piercings on my ears.. im going 4 a 4th hole and the cartilidge.
Does piercing my ears count?
Well, in my country it is almost like a custom to pierce female children’s ears at an early age.
I remember mine being pierced when I was about 3years old.
But nowadays they pierce ears of infants after a few months after birth!!
i have my bottom lip (left side) and my right eyebrow. i got the one in my lip because i was talking too much in class and since i got it done i play with it instead of talking. and i got my brow done because my fiance said i would look good with it…and he was right. i enjoy them. i got them mainly for personal reasons…lol
I have 4 in my left ear and 5 in my right. I also have my belly button done. Possibly in the future I might get my tongue, possibly a lip, and definitely more in the ears. I love the look of piercings and I think that is something that makes me different. My piercings don’t have any real benefits i just like the way they look.
I got my tragus pierced on both ears, I saw it on a kid who’s parents owned a tattoo shop and I thought it was different! It does not “do” anything, I just like it!
I love all my piercings, but I actually had to think about this. First off, I’m 21 and a female. As for my first piercing, I got my ear lobes pierced when I was 5 because every other girl (or so I thought) had their ears pierced. But I never wore them.
I re-pierced my ear lobes when I was 15 and during that same year I added 2 more lobes on each side (for 3 piercings on each ear lobe) and I got 2 cartilage in my left ear and 1 in my right. I’m honestly not sure what I was thinking when I pierced those. I was having a lot of trouble in school and at home (Always fighting with my parents) and they refused to let me get anymore piercings besides the 1 in each earlobe, so I did it myself. I guess you could say it was typical teenage rebellion, but it was, and still is, so much more important than that to me. It was me telling myself, my parents and everyone else that I was an adult (or so I thought) and I was independent. Basically, I was just trying to find myself. I didn’t know who I was and it was a way to give myself an identity. The cartlidge piercings were for the same reason. The only benefit at the time was pissing off my parents. It wasn’t cosmetic because it didn’t look very good.
As far as the nose goes, I always liked it and I think it looks pretty good because I’ve had it in since I was 15. I did take it out temporarily until I finished an EMT-B class because they don’t allow facial piercings. But other than that it’s been in for about 6 yrs. Pretty much the same thing with the navel, I admired most of my friends’ and decied to get it. I saw one of my friend’s older sister’s tongue piercing when I was 14 and decided I wanted one. I finally ended up getting one a month before my 19th birthday. I don’t know why though, I just felt like a needed one. Not wanted, but needed.
Contrary to popular belief, my boyfriend has never felt like the tongue ring *ahem* enhanced our personal lives, so to speak. I have taken it out breifly and he didn’t even notice. Right now, I have 2 ear lobe piercings in each ear, my nose, and my tongue. Though, I only wear one pair of earrings and my nose piercing to work. And just to dispell another popular belief, not everyone that has a tongue ring is a hooker or a slut. It’s crazy how many people believe that. I worked as a EMT-B for a couple of yrs before getting a wonderful career job at a national insurance company. To this day, I still love my tongue piercing, I have no idea why, maybe because I waited so long to pierce it? Anyways, good question and sorry for typing so much! LOL I am still very enthusiastic about my piercings.
