What Would You Think Of A Tattoo Like This?

10 Comments 08 February 2010

The hilt of a sword on the back of my leg, with the sword going down to my ankle. There would be a snake wrapped around the sword and my whole leg, and the snakes head on my knee.
Good tattoo? Price? Amount of Total Tattooing time?

so let me see if i can figure out your plan–the sword goes straight down, like a concealed weapon??the snake wraps aroundthe outside of the sword only??and clings to your leg, like a sheath??–personally i wouldn’t do it like that–it will probably look like a roman sandle type of effect!!!it would be more suitable on the forearm (underside)between wrist and elbow!!! to look ok on leg— i would get a sword each side of leg and then a wraparound snake with head on foot and tail somewhere near knee area

I don’t think you should put the snake’s head on the knee because it will look deformed.

sounds great will it be color or black, white and grey? probably 6 hours. prices vary artist to artist

well you shouldnt worry about what people think as long as you are happy and secure with your body thats all that matters thats what i have always told my son and he went through his grandma telling him he was gay for getting tats and his ear peirced i even got two with him so hun just be happy with your self and to heck with everyone else

okay … so it could be a good tattoo, but you may want to talk with your artist and see what he thinks would look best without taking away from your idea on how to angle the snake and the head. cause it sounds a little weird( no offense). on the price it just really all depends on the artist and detail and color and whatnot so idk on that one. as for time? it should if it’s a good artist at the least an hour but maybe two hours and maybe even a second sitting depending on how much pain you can handle and if he/she has had many appointments before you.

I would think you either had a very understanding and supportive girlfriend or didn’t care to. Too much ink just makes a person seem smug. But if you decide to do it, be prepared for more than one session.

Personally I don’t think that it is a bad idea, but I wouldn’t put the snakes head on your knee, above the knee, or below it on the side at the top of the calf would be a much better spot.
Approximate time would be dependent upon how big the design is, how detailed the design is, if you’re going full color or just shading, etc. Without seeing it and knowing the exact dimensions I can’t really give an accurate estimate, same thing goes for price, its dependent up the same things (size, intricacy, color or shaded, etc), and whether the artist charges by the hour, by the piece, etc.

ok well i have 2 tattoo’s but my husband does them so am i qulified to answer ur question? first i want to say that tattoo is overly done, and if thats what u really want then it will cost anywhere between 300-800 dollars depends on who does it and as far as how long u are probably lookin at about 5-8 hours of work depends on how big u want the snake andif it wraps all the way around ur leg u are lookin at alot of time they may even do it in 2 sessions because some of the artist do get bord and stiff after a while so alot of time they will quit, oh and it depends on how much detail u want done too.

  9. Babycake says:

Dont put his head on your knee! Think about when your knee bends. He might look deformed! LOL
And your doing your whole leg? Are you willing to sit thru all the sessions? its a big task!

Yes, I have more than 6 tats. Now, Yeah, I do think that’s a good idea. Maybe the snake’s head shouldn’t be on your knee though…Because you always move that part of your body, Your tattoo will fade quicker, have a harder time healing there, and will need touch ups more often. Maybe the head could be right above your knee in the front, or higher on your leg. Something like the head, with so much detail, should be in a flatter spot.
