In general, I’m opposed to banning things. However, there are instances where I believe that some piercings should be illegal.
I don’t think that a parent should have the right to pierce a baby. Whether the piercing is in the baby’s ears or nose, I think it is wrong. The baby cannot consent to this. In no other instance can a parent scar a child purposefully without a medical reason. While things like tattoos can be removed, a piercing always leaves a scar.
I’m not sure how old I would require the child to be for them to give consent. I was 7 years old when I had my ears pierced but now I think that may have been a little young. Maybe 13 would be a better age (even then, parental consent should also be required). But the whole idea of piercing a baby seems wrong to me.
My worry would be infection if not taken care of
body piercings can get caught on things and rip out (ewwwwwww)
