A lot of these comments are kind of stupid, to be honest. It wasn't a bad decision to let her get her piercings, as long as shes mature enough to handle it and takes care of it. I'm 16, with 11 piercings (cartilage, double piercings in both ears, and both stretched to 7/16g, tongue, lip, navel, clavicle dermals, and a smiley) and a tattoo (on my calf). My grades are fine, and I have a job. Some people give me an odd look, because seeing a 16 year old with body modifications is kind of shocking. As for boys with ear piercings, males have just as much of a right to get piercings ANYWHERE just as much as females do. And as for the people who are talking about how hard it is for her to find a job, shush. The good thing about having piercings is that after they heal (which hers will be when she needs to find a job) you can take them out while you work. Eyebrow piercings don't scar bad at all, and you can barely see the hole. So in my opinion, stop worrying. It will all be fine.

Look up the history of piercings and tattoo's and you will find that both practices are very very very old. In the past a piercing or a tattoo was a symbol of achievement or a passage to another level, such as adulthood.

The negative connotations nowadays are nothing more than misunderstood social norms (follow the sheep as it were). Piercings and tattoo's are nothing more than an expression much like art. Would anyone put this much thought and concern if their child asked to go for guitar lessons? 'Oh my god what if they needed to get a job??!?'

Besides, with children, especially in their teens, the more you forbid something, the more attractive it is to them and the more rebellious they will become. Let them do what they want when they are younger like piercings and coloring their hair and the clothes they want to wear. Let them get past the phase and it will be over faster with much less pain. if it isn't a phase they were going through, then that is who your child is. Why would you want to repress who they are? You can guide, you can't dictate.

Just my 2 cents.

I think people make too big of a deal when it comes to piercings. It's not 20th century anymore and people have different reaction to things like piercing and tattoos. Of course everyone has their opinion but open-minded people, even some schools, are most likely to not care that much about piercings. I really don't see any bad sides in piercings if you take care of it and clean it properly. A lot of people say that you will regret piercings when you get older blah blah blah the thing is that you can take it out well it might leave a small mark but its not big business. So if you think that it will make you happy, why not do it? Just because you have piercings/tattoos doesn't mean you are a bad kid, time to leave stereotypes behind.

Piercings aren't permanent, so it doesn't matter. Boys wearing earrings are ok, as long as it's in the left ear or both.

piercings are just like any other type of jewelry that you wear. i do not feel that it should be a big deal if a person has a non-ear piercing. having a piercing is just like having a hair cut or a different color of hair. it is really a personal opinion, and i believe it should be left up to the individual to decide, not everyone else. while you are her parent, i believe you should allow your daughter some personal freedom. afterall, it is just an eyebrow. also, boys are people too, and should be allowed to wear jewelry just like girls.
