    A deep breath.
Rubbing anything into the skin before a tattoo increases your chances of allergic reaction if it is pushed into the skin
I always take ibuprofen post tattoo for the swelling. The problem with pain killers is that a lot of them contain blood thinners and will cause you to bleed heavily, which you don’t want.
Just remember to breathe, and it is never as bad as you think it will be. I bet you can take it like a pro. The pain is part of the experience

Well my tattoo artist told me about this cream that I could buy from the pharmacy and apply an hour earlier to getting the tattoo (I love in Spain so I don’t know what’s it called where you’re from but if you ask at the pharmacy they’ll know which one it is). But he said it’ll be better without because the cleaner the skin is the better (or something like that) so I decided to not buy the cream and BELIEVE me it’s not as bad as people think (this coming from a total wuss when it comes to pain).

I’ll tell you straight up if you get a tattoo on your side like on your ribs its gonna hurt you better believe that. Dont let any1 lie to you and say it wont. I have a 32 letter scripture 1 corinthians 13 11. and it hurt very badly. If your gonna get shading done and al that its gonna be a fun ride but tis nothing you cant get through honestly screw pain killers suck it up.

Don’t take any pain killers, they thin your blood and that causes the ink to “fall out”. Just relax and breathe focus on the fact that once he is done it wont hurt as bad (may be a little tender or swollen, and may sting) but the worst is over. I have tattoos on my spine, abdomen and feet and i survived trust me if it was that bad nobody would have them. Good luck!

Don’t put anything on the skin. And I’ve been high, drunk or on pain meds before my tattoos and it didn’t make one wit of difference so don’t bother. It still hurt but you know what, it doesn’t hurt that much and is nothing you should feel nervous about. The most important thing is for you to be relaxed, stress can make the event more painful. And while I’m at it, only get tattooed where it can easily be covered up with clothing. Wisdom from a tattooed lady.

You really shouldn’t take anything – any kind of pain reliever will cause thinner blood which will causes more bleeding which will cause more scabbing. Tattoo artists advise you not to take anything – they really don’t even like you drinking before a tattoo. So, suck it up and be tough. You will survive – no pain, no gain!

You can take…your tampon out, pussy and just deal with it if u can’t take da heat get out of the kitchen I’m a skinney 17 year old and I got tats on my clavical and all dat it doesn’t hurt that bad any way, just man up and do it or get a stick on tattoo hahaha there is no point in getting a tattoo if it doesn’t hurt a little

some people use lido-cane. they rub it on than wrap the area with plastic wrap. But it could affect how the tattoo comes out. I would ask the artist first. other than that some cultures see tattoo’s as something that’s earned, and going through the pain is how you earn it.

LDJHLASKJDFLJ DON’T TAKE TYLENOL YOU’LL BLEEDZ TO DEATH.
Any medicine before han d ALLTHOUGH YOU WILL NOT EXCESSIVELY BLEED, will not really help you either sorry.
The pain is really something you’ll have to deal with, eat before hand and take a sugary snack/drink.

    Its really not that bad.
Topical numbing and painkillers can thin the blood, and make you bleed more, so they’re really really not worth it.
Just make sure you have a good meal beforehand, and take something to do. Like a book or something.

Can’t take the pain ? don’t get tattooed. If you can’t it goes against the point of passage, a right if you will. Pain is great.

  12. Missy Awesome says:

….my advice: deal with the pain! Most tattoo artists advise against taking anything or using any sort of topical anesthetic. It’s not as bad as you think, really… and you get sort of “used to it” as that tat goes on :)

I got a numb medicine named Elma 5% (from thailand). It can be applied on skin 1hr prior tattoo session but I dunno if you can get it there.

Don’t take anything. It will thin your blood, and make you bleed more while being tattooed. (Yes, some people bleed during tattoos).

Its lanacane and my artist uses it for ribs and large pieces. If you use it with out the knowledge of the artist they can go numb too…
