Septum Piercing Question, How Long Until You Could?

9 Comments 07 February 2010

if you have had your septum done with a retainer or horseshoe, how long from having it pierced until you were able to turn it up inside your nose to hide it?
I want it done but I have a family gathering this weekend, want to do it Wednesday, will I be able to hide it in time for Sat / Sun!?
Thanks for all replies

You COULD, but it’s if you SHOULD or not.
When I had mine done, it hurt for a few days after. Like, a tiny brush against clothing getting dressed really hurt. So if I had wanted to hide it in my nose, it would have hurt doing so as well as getting it back down again after wards. It’s different for everyone but it CAN hurt.
Apart from hurting, you shouldn’t move new piercings around too much. You need to give the skin time to heal, moving the jewelery too much prolongs the healing time and could potentially damage the skin.
Wait if you can, a few days won’t hurt! Otherwise you can take your chances, you might not feel any pain after wards (unlike me) and be able to easily hide it. If it were me I’d wait a few days though :].

septum piercing is delicate and can cause infections if not properly taken care of. i would do it when there is enough time to leave it along for some time…3wks

Why hide it?!?! Aren’t you getting it so people will see it?

I flipped it up right after getting it pierced, didn’t hurt at all. I left it up there to heal though, don’t keep flipping it in and out otherwise this will irritate it.

It shouldn’t affect it too much if you flip it for a short time. I would suggest having a curved barbell rather than horseshoe while its healing because it would be easier to flip and better healing because there is a smaller chance of jewelry getting caught somewhere and being irritated.

It doesnt get infected easily, Its very unlikly to get infected because snot protects you from dead skin cells and germs so it would be pretty hard to get infected. i had mine pierced recently, i have to hide mine from my dad n i fliped it up 2 days after getting it done.. it’ll hurt n it will probably get irritated n scab a bit but it should b fine (:

I had mine done yesterday with a retainer and he flipped it up there and then and said to leave it for a couple of weeks to heal apparently its the best position , so just ask them to turn it up when its done
