Try smaller balls too. Or flat ends should definitely help ( http://www.bodyjewelleryshop.com/online_… )...you could make just the underneath one flat if it's the bottom gum that hurts. It could be that the piercer pierced your tongue too far forward. If it still hurts, definitely take it out. Then get it re-pierced if you like further back.
