Question About My Cartilage Piercing?

5 Comments 28 January 2010

I got my cartige pierced two weeks ago. I have to go for an MRI on friday so i cant have any metal in, and the test is about an hour? Will my piercing close in that time. Its not infected and it didnt get infected at all. Will it be really painfull to put it back in?

Is should not close in that amount of time, but if you are greatly concerned most piercing shops can see you non-metallic spacers that will keep the hole open while getting an MRI.
I wouldn’t worry too much, however sometimes they are hard to get back in if they’re pretty new.

i took mine out about 6 months after i had it pierced, and when i tried to put it back in after 10 minutes, it had began to close at the back, and it was extremely painful.
but, it was a little infected, and some people’s ears might respond differently. you’de have to take it out no matter what really, but good luck for putting it back in. xx

If you just got it and you have to take it out it will really hurt to get back in that is if you can at all.
    New piercings close pretty quickly.

    Yes it WILL close up
I recommend changing the stud to Bioplast or PTFE (flexible materials that won’t show up on an MRI)
    Go to your piercer :)

use a plastic retainer to keep the hole open whil you have your scan :) x
