Question About A Surface Piercing I’m Going To Get?

6 Comments 23 January 2010

I’m going to get two surface piercing on my lower stomach kinds above my hip bone. I want to know how long it might take to heal and how long It would be until I could sleep on my stomach again. If you have any other info, add it please. It’s appreciated(:

Look into getting microdermals instead of a surface bar, they heal much faster (approx 4 months) and have a lower rate of rejection. Might be a little more expensive but it’s less painful and easier to deal with (IMO). I have a microdermal on my wrist that gets beaten up every day and it’s fine and was a piece of cake to heal. My nape piercing is done with a surface bar and is a slightly different story, way more painful, and slightly more trouble to deal with (although part of that is location).
The only downside of microdermals compared to surface bars is if they do reject or you want them out you need to have them cut out.

I haven’t had a surface piercing there (by the way, the ones you are talking about are called hip piercings) but I want one too!
I just answered because I read some of the other answers and I wanted to say don’t let them put you off! Thats only a few peoples opinions. Personally I think they look great, and im sure plenty of other people think that too!
They can be rejected though but that just depends on your body.
You shuld have it done, good luck (:

think about this long and hard. some piercings u can only have for so long because your body will eventually push them out. and the scars from surface piercings can be pretty ugly. my friend had her lower back done she had to take it out after 6 months and now has to get a tattoo over it because its dark and purple.

How long it takes depends on how well you keep it clean and dry. Laying on your stomach while having the piercings in you may prove to be pretty uncomfortable. Good luck, dear.

I’ve never seen any last more than a year there.
You move too much for it to be a viable spot.
Pretty, but much more of a temporary thing. Some never heal to start with.
