I got my belly button pierced two months ago. It was doing fine with absolutely no problems. I went in the hot tub on New Year’s Eve, but took a shower and did a salt soak after, and it was fine. However, the past couple of days I have noticed that it is a bit itchy. It is not red or swollen and is not crusting. It looks fine. It’s just itchy.
Please help me out. I’ve wanted this piercing for years and I’ve been a spaz ever since I got it done. This is about my 20th question on Yahoo Answers concerning my button.
Thank you so mcuh.

Itching is 99% of the time a good thing, it means that it is healing. The other 1% of the time is the rare instance that someone developes an allergy to their piercing jewelry or cleaning solution after having had it for a few months, or even years.
As long as you keep it clean, don’t play with it, don’t bump it around accidentally and such you shouldn’t have any problems.
Signs of infection are redness, swelling, heat radiating from the piercing, or hot to the touch, yellowish to greenish pus, (clearish to whitish fluid is normal, it is lymph fluid), tenderness, and in severe cases reddish or pinkish lines extending from the piercing… in extreme cases the development of an abcess. Unless you are experiencing any of those, you’re piercing is fine.
If you are extremely woried about it though, go back to your piercer and let them look at it. We tell our clients to come back or call if they have any questions because we really do mean it.
DOCTOR< AS K A DOCTOR< NOt YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!
For now, just buy bactine and spray it on twice a day. It doesn’t sound that serious.
Just be sure to clean it out, and then go to the piercing place and ask about what it could be, I’m sure they’ll know more about it than a bunch of random people on yahoo answers (:
Oh, and did they give you anything to clean it out with?
Try cleaning it twice a day or something, that’s what I had to do with my nose piercing when there was this bump under it
ahah (:
GOODLUCK
