A day after you get pierced you DONT REMOVE YOUR JEWLERY. Trying to get new jewlery into a hole that is only one day old is going to be a painful and likely bloody mess. If you are successful by some miracle in getting the new jewlery in, you will have caused a ton of damage to the tissue that was trying to heal. The much more likely outcome is that you wont be able to get the jewlery in and will have to run to your piercer for them to clean up the ordeal. It sounds frightening and it is.
Leave your original jewlery in for 6 WEEKS as your piercer instructed. Doing otherwise will slow your healing and risk the health of your piercing. SOOOO not worth it.
After you’ve taken wonderful care of your piercing and it has fully healed, you can put in whatever you like.
If you have started out with a hoop that has a little bead set into it, try slipping a fingernail under one of the ends of the hoop against the bead. Then apply some pressure to snap the bead out. If you cant snap it out yourself, your piercer can take your hoop out in moments with ring openers. Or you can buy a pair of openers yourself for around 12 dollars.
If your piercing began life with a curved barbell, unscrew the top ball. Just grip the top and bottom balls firmly and unscrew it with a counter-clockwise turn. Do this carefully so you don’t give your piercing a good crank in the process.
Getting your new jewlery back in takes a little patience and calm handeling. With a healed piercing it is just a matter of taking your time and feeling the jewlery through the piercing. It takes a little practice, but you should be able to get through it fine. If you don’t feel comfortable, you can always have your piercer put in your new jewlery.
Please don’t change your jewlery before your piercing has healed. Yanking the old jewlery out and shoving a new one in after only a couple of days will do you much more harm and can even aggravate your piercing to the point of scarring. Just give your belly a few weeks to heal itself up and you will be able to wear whatever you like.
If you need your jewlery changed due to some emergency like an allergy to the metal, a hoop that is getting caught on EVERYTHING, the jewlery is too tight, or some other legitimate reason then go back to your piercer. Tell them the problem and they will change the jewlery for you. This will be thousands of times easier and safer for your belly. Otherwise, let it heal in peace. The better you clean it and longer you leave it alone, the fewer problems you will have in the future
It takes confidence, but just hold and twist, I wouldn’t try to take it out for a few weeks (sometimes its a pain to put back).
I agree, wait to take it out for a couple of weeks. Honestly I’d wait to take it out in a couple of months. I took mine out and it was a B**** to get back in.
i don’t know you tell me answer….
I bet it looks great!! be careful and keep the piercing clean.
