well I'm not forsure if the band-aid thing is okay. I've wanted to get my navel pierced as well but my mom, who is a nurse, said that it wouldn't be a good idea for me because we live in IL and I wouldn't always be able to wear shirts that wouldn't cover my bellybutton. So I think its better not to cover it, but thats just based off of info that my mom told me. I would suggust going back to the place you got it done and ask them again because you don't want it to get infected. its probably that the skin is just healing, like your ears would if you got them pierced again. good luck!

I got my navel pierced a few weeks ago during the Memorial Day weekend. After about a week, the top ball of my ring began to sink into my skin to the point that I was seeing it less and less each day. I went right back to my piercer who changed the ball to a much larger one (the original one was quite small). My suggestion to you is to first, stop using the band-aid. Your piercing, like any wound, needs air. A band-aid prohibits the wound from getting the air it needs to help it heal. Second, I would go to a different piercing place and have them change the ring or give you a bigger top ball. Make sure that your jewelry is surgical steel and not the cheap $10 crap a lot of people purchase. Furthermore, make sure you wash your piercing at least twice a day with Dial Complete (it's a foam soap) and use a sea salt solution or spray. This will help clear up the infection you have. Mine got infected too when I was experiencing the same problem. But, definitely, get to a different piercer or even demand the person who pierced you to do something.
