It depends on where you get it done at. I got mine done with a hoop but I knew ppl that got a bar when they were pierced too. I hear that the hoop is better though because you can slide it back and forth and have more room for it to heal…I didn’t have any problems with mine healing. I think I changed it to a bar after a couple months.
Keep in mind that it does leave a bad scar. I have had mine out for almost a year and still have a hole above my belly button from it. It looks like its still pierced but it’s not.
Good Luck
It’s tempting to ask for the barbells because they are cuter, but my piercer insisted i use a ball and it was SOOOO much easier to clean and move around. The number one thing to do is to clean it at least twice a day and try not to play with it as hard as that might be. I left mine in for 2 months then changed it to match a cute bathing suit for vacation (that was 2 years ago) anyway, i know friends who had barbells when they got theirs pierced and they got infections and i didn’t. if the barbell is too short, it won’t move around a lot and will be 10 times harder to clean. hope this helps!!
when you get ur belly button pierced you have a choice of the temporary barbelles that you can choose from…its a bit thicker then a normal barbelle so when it heels you wont have problems putting other jewelery on ur piercing, it takes about two weeks for you to actually take out the temporary one and put the jewelery of your choosing.
You can get either one. Mine was a barbell both times (I have top and bottom done), I waited 4 months but it’s recommended you wait 6-9 months so that its healed all the way. With my bottom one I waited almost a year cuz i kinda forgot about it
Usually most piercers use a plain stainless steel barbell which is easier for cleaning and promotes faster healing. The recomended time before changing jewelry is four to six months. Depending on your rate of healing, you might be safe to change jewelry in one month.
Please always remember to wash your hands before touching your new wound and clean it regularly with antibacterial soap.
no its more like a curved barbell. just keep it clean, 2 times a day and DO NOT touch it with dirty fingers. mine got infected because of that. i changed it after 3 weeks and it didnt hurt at all until it got infected.
ps. bring a friend when you go to hold your hand haha :/
where i went to get my navel pierced, i was able to choose what jewerly i wanted and i got the barbell. that tends to be the more common jewerly for navel piercing and i also think it looks better than a hoop.
it was just a plain, curved barbell…and you can change it whenever it’s done healing, i would say a couple weeks or something..maybe a month but they’ll tell you when you can change it.
I would suggest getting a hoop for your piercing at first. It makes it easier to keep the wound clean and by twisting it, it will heal properly.
ive never gotten anything pierced my advice dont some of the tattoo or piercing metal is poison and could infect your blood stream its not the artist fault its the resources.
I got a hoop it might look weird but it helps.it heal faster. I suggest not changing it until vb its compleyely healed. Could take 4-6 months I had mines pierced for 2 months already and its doin fine
