How Soon After Having My Baby Can I Get The Tattoo I Have Planned?

4 Comments 06 February 2010

I am planning to get her footprints with her name and birth date as a tattoo. Obviously it won’t be right away, but how long after is a good time? A couple months?

That sounds like a beautiful tattoo.
Basically, it depends on where you decide to get the tattoo. If it is on a spot on your body that is stretched out because of the pregnancy, e.g. abdomen, breast, etc., you will need to wait for it to get back down to its final size to get the tattoo or it will be distorted. However, if it is on a part of your body that is unaffected by a pregnancy, e.g. arm, back, thigh, then anytime you want should be OK.

    when ever you are ready.

immediate is appropriate based on the area your getting it.

if your getting it on an area that has alot of stretching due to your pregnancy you may want to wait until the skin tightens up cause the tattoo wont look the same when the skin does actually tighten up.

as a matter of fact it is safe for a pregnant woman to get a tattoo with natural skin pigmant inks.
