I got a tattoo last night on my wrist and the shading is really dark and the tattooist said that it will fade away in time. How long exactly?

I have had my b/w tattoo which has a lot of shading. I have had the tattoo for nearly two years and the shading has not yet started to fade. Generally speaking most artists will instruct you to get your tattoo re-shadded every 1-3 years. However, it just depends on the size, location and how well it healed.
Well within the first few days, it’ll fade alot (not really fade, just get less shiny-like) Then, very very slowly over a few years.
Sun and chlorine will hasten the process. Stay away.
