How Do I Make The Tattoo Design I Want Smaller?

8 Comments 31 December 2009

I’m getting a tattoo this week hopefully by friday. I’m 16 and i want the tattoo on my wrist. but my mom says its a little to big for it. I got it off of the Johnny Tattoo website, but i haven’t bought it. How, if i do buy it, make the size smaller?

first make sure you really want this! 16 seems young, so make sure you’ll still be in love with it later on in life. the wrist placement may not go over well with employers..just keep in mind!
otherwise all tattoo shops can resize your image, no problem. And definetly work with your artist if you dont like any parts of the tat. they can work wonders!

When you take the design to your tattoo artist they will make a stencil of the design. Then they will talk to you about the size you want it. They can make it smaller or bigger depending on what you decide. I would really think about getting a tattoo on your wrist so young. They can be harder to cover up and it might not make a big difference now but later on it could be an issue. Not saying don’t get it, just think about it.

Most people that have tattoos will say that they got them for a specific reason such as remembering someone or a time in their lives. Others say that they feel more sexy or adventurous because they have gotten the tattoos. I am wondering if there is more to it then these reasons. Have you ever counseled anyone on whether they should or should not get a tattoo? Do you feel that there is a deeper meaning or connection that most people do not realize when they make the decision to get tattoos? I am doing some research on this subject and would really appreciate your opinion. I am contemplating getting a tattoo.

Don’t buy a flash tattoo off a website – anyone and everyone can get those tattoos.
Take your idea to a tattoo artist and ask him/her to draw something up for you. Yes, it might be a little more expensive (some tattoo artists charge drawing fees) but it’s worth it to have an original tattoo.
    Best of luck,

the tattoo parlor should be able to resize it for you no problem. i designed my own tattoos and had to scale it up a bit. i didn’t want to redraw the whole thing so they just scanned it and made it a little bigger.

most, if not all tattoo studios will have a copy machine to enlarge or shrink images, every tat i have ever had has had to be re-scaled one way or another, so just take it along with you, good luck :)

You need to talk to your tattooist a head of time about the proper size. They can adjust it for you. It needs to be big enough so that the lines hold up well over time. Heed your tattooist advise.
