ok i have a cartilage piercing on my left ear, which im not sure when i got it exactly but im thinking sometime in december. it is a bit painful to the touch still and has a bump which has been there for forever. i use antibacterial ointment but the infection is not really my question. my question is
A. is it supposed to feel a little soar to the touch this long? and
b. about when can i change it? i know its been longer than six weeks cuz i died my hair around the same time and ive had a few touch-ups since then. i have a bad history with cartilaige piercings. my last on got slammed in a locker and crushed, then infected, then i changed the ear-ring too early, causing horribly painful infection, and it started bleeding and hurt so badly that i couldnt think, and i took it out in the middle of school…it grew together and gladly the infection went away. the cartilaige is still crushed.

My cartilage piercings were sore for a year, but it takes 6 months for cartilage piercings to heal. I had two done at the same time so that probably would explain the prolonged healing time. Make sure you clean them really well, soaking them in a warm saline solution. Do this every night or even twice a day for healthy and happy piercings. Mine had bumps too, but I eventually realized it was poor jewelry (they were captive rings) anyways good luck
its not supposed to still be sore if u got it in december =/ the same thing happend to me tho last year and i ended up just taking out the original piercing out for a week and then when i tried putting a new piercing in to see if it closed up, it was totally fine. idk if i were u i wud just do that and try taking it out.
