Piercing Questions

A Question About People With Tongue Piercing?

2 Comments 14 January 2010

Does it really damage teeth?
Do people with tongue piercing regularly take medicine for tetanus?
Is there a tongue length requirement?

I’ve had my tongue pierced twice. Never damaged any of my teeth. Dont take any kind of medicine for it. Pretty sure there is not a length requirement. As long as you go to a good, clean place everything goes well normally. Also plastic balls can sometimes shatter if you accidentally bite them. Never use a plastic bar for sure. For the same reason, they can break in your tongue.

Tongue rings CAN damage teeth if the person with the piercing is not careful. If the length of the bar is too long and can easily catch between the teeth and the person is eating with…fervor, then it’s possible to catch one of the balls between the teeth and possibly injure it. You can prevent this by having plastic balls instead of metal ones and making sure the length isn’t too much for your mouth. Medicine is not taken for tetanus by people with tongue piercings. I’ve never heard of that. As far as I know, there is no real tongue length requirement as long as your tongue extends beyond your tongue web.
