A Question About My Nose Piercing?

13 Comments 08 February 2010

I got my nose pierced just over a week ago when I was abroad. It was a little sore for two days then perfectly fine. However the last three days, when I wake up in the morning I find blood on my nose and it’s really sore. It probably is infected. I want to take it out and leave it for a few days, however I know it can close up quickly and especially since I’ve just got it done. How many days can I leave it off for? Or is it better to leave the stud in and let it heal itself?

taking it out really isnt going to work i had my nose done for over 2 years then took it out and it grew over in 5 hours so i ended up having to pay to get it re-done
but i dont think you’re dealing with an infection, nose piercings tend to bleed more then other piercings because of the pressure put on it when you sleep and they are usually sore for up to 2 weeks
but there are three main signs that show you do have an infection
1)extreme heat radiating from the piercing
2)excessive bleeding or greenish puss leaking from the piercing
    3)extreme pain or sensitivity
if u have any of these signs you should see a professional
but if uyou dont i suggest cleaning with salene or lens plus solution and washing with salt water twice a day (the salt water will help the piercing heal faster)
    good luck!

u may as well let it heal with it in, using TCP or glycerin, and dabbin it daily on the sore
however, if u rilli wanna take it out, den get some matches and u know da wood part of them? cut it a few cms [like the same amount as the stud] and replace the stud wid dat. den kp treatin it wid tcp or some antiseptic – go to ur pharmacy to get some. den once u notice its healed, u can replace it wid ur stud
i did dat to mines, cos i got it dun abroad 2 and it went sore wen i got back. however i was also allergic to the stud so after it got betta i got a new one
    hope dat helps
    regards

Blood does not mean infection. I had dried blood around my nose piercing the first week or so when I got it pierced. Unless it’s swollen, red, hot to the touch, or oozing yellow/green puss, it’s probably not infected.
Piercings should never be taken out when they are healing. Meaning, you can’t leave it out for a few days and it would probably close up within one day.

It’ll heal up too quickly, if you want to keep it then leave it in. However, if it’s too infected you may want to take it out altogether. Have you kept it clean? You should be cleaning it twice a day with salt water, and turning it regularly with clean hands. Don’t touch it unnecessarily.

Ive had my nose pierced for 4 years and I still cant leave it out for more than 30 min without it closing! But thats not the case for all people luckily i guess im just wierd lol. I wouldnt recomend leaving it out for long periods of time. You should take it out clean the peircing and the stud then quickly put it back in. Good luck!

ive had my both sides done for 30 years don’t take it out .your nose takes longer to heal than ears just wipe or drip detail or tcp or the same over every doy or 2-3 times a day but it will take a long time to heal but once it passes it don’t come back better if you can stand the pain put GOLD EARRING IN YOUR NOSE it will heart but stopped all this ive done it ….

keep it in! dont take it out, just clean it 3 times a day with H2Ocean steralized pericing spray, you can get it from the place that you got it peirced, or any other peircing place. DO NOT use hydrogen peroxcide. it over cleans it and drys it out, which irritates it. nose peircings are madddd cute!

If you take it out, it could close up in a few minutes, so don’t. Just leave it. It might have bled if you caught it in the night. Clean it as you’ve been told to and other than that just leave it alone so it can heal. It’s not infected.

I had mine done a few weeks ago and it was sore for a few days, make sure you clean it and you must have a gold stud in or you will have problems.

  10. nat says:

leave it in and clean it 2-3 times a day with hot salty water and this should clear out the infection

ask your piercer or a local place.

do not take it out, it will close up in like a hour. best thing to do is to keep it in ( maybe change it to a smaller better metal stud ). you say when you wake up its sore, make sure you are not sleeping on it, also they can easily fall out in your sleep so you would want to put some tape over it.
if the piercing is red, that shows that your white blood cells are trying to fight off bacteria so you should help your white blood cells by washing it.you should wash it really well about 3 times a day. you can wash it with salt water as that promotes healing and makes a scab. when you get a scab there do not try to get it off as this is the body’s way of cloting the blood and closing the hole so you wont get an infection. you could also use surgical spirit (diluted) , which you could easily buy from any pharmacy.
you would know that it is infected because there would be puss there. so you should try some diluted antiseptic ( i use TCP on my piercings) .
    hope i helped
