I got mine done January 1, 2009 and here is how my piercer told me to clean it: Spray it every 2 hours with a salt water solution (2 Tbs. sea salt to 1 gallon of water), clean it once a day with antibacterial soap (like Dial) and leave it alone. Mine is doing great and it never hurts anymore.
When you clean it with the Dial, squirt some soap in your hands, work up a lather, and rub the spot where the piercing is and the earring.
